The London Eye, February 2001

In February we had a chance to go on the London Eye. It is an incredibly smooth ride and it is often very difficult to tell if you are actually moving.

The journey takes about 30 minutes and gives you a spectacular view of several well known landmarks, however much of what you see is just a massive sprawl of buildings and you have to look very carefully to identify much. I would recommend taking binoculars...

The following show a few of the things you get to see:

The Eye seen from Westminster bridge.
Charing Cross station - the side you don't usually get to see.
Beginning the journey up - looking back.
The view through the structure.
St. Paul's and the City.
Charing Cross again with the BT tower in the background.
Looking down on one of the pods.
Out across the city to Canary Warf.
The people in the next pod getting an eyeful of the Houses of Parliament.
Buckingham Palace.
Trafalgar Square and nelson's Column.
The Houses of Parliament, Big Ben and Westminster Abbey.
Beginning the descent.
